t Bio: I hold a Master degree in Cultural Anthropology at the University of Turin (Italy) and a BA in International Relations and Diplomacy at the University of Triest (Italy). I also studied for an year program at the Sued Asien Institut at University of Heidelberg (Germany), where I had classes in ethnology, history and politics in Southern Asia and hindi language.
I’m currently a PhD candidate in Environmental Sciences at ICTA-UAB. My main research topics are conflicts related to water resources and river basin management, dams and hydropower and energy sovereignty. I am particularly interested in exploring bridges between Environmental Justice studies, Political Ecology, Political Economy and Degrowth. My work focuses mostly on Southern Asia (Indian Himalayas), Europe (Alps) and Latin America.
For the last three years I have been working as co-editor of the EJatlas at the EJOLT project, the global map of environmental conflicts and resistance (EJatlas – learn more here), coordinating data collection and visualization from more than 200 collaborators across the continents.
I am a member of social movements and advocacy groups working on water and energy issues, human right to water, socio-environmental justice, and debt like the European Water Movement, the Debt Observatory in Globalization-Observatori del Deute en la Globalització (ODG), the Xarxa per la Soberania Energetica-Energy Sovereignty Network in Catalunya (XSE) and the Campaign NOTTIP in Barcelona.
Research Interests: political ecology of water and energy, environmental justice, energy sovereignty and democracy, environmental resistance, dams and hydropower.
